It’s the upstairs closet's turn for a little intervention..... I mean... attention. It is pretty small and like everywhere else in the upstairs, things had been thrown in without much rhyme and reason.
First, it was at one time, a WHOLE lot worse than this. Moving in downstairs helped this little space a great deal. But everything still had to be taken out, cleaned and sorted, which caused
Because its so small, I had to be strategic about how to best use the space. This took a while for a plan to finally came together which meant shelving units and a trip to Home Depot (My husband's favorite place. Look how happy he is deep in aisles of brackets and screws.)
It took some piddling, re-arranging, throwing out, moving around, another trip to Home Depot, one trip to Michaels (didn't buy anything), one to TJ Maxx (didn't buy anything), one trip to Walmart (for the Pioneer Woman fabric baskets on the third shelf) and one to Home Goods (for the gold boxes with lids and a little squirrel going to work on the wall), and one trip to the garage to look for other items I could use (the wicket baskets, the old straw handbag, and the coffee cups, one of which I've had for more than 20 years) but the shelves are up, there is carpet on the floor (leftovers from the second upstairs remodel) and the items are all cozied in their own spot.
I am very very happy.
Of course, its not finished.
And just to make sure I don't run out of projects anytime soon, the big Rubbermaid containers in the bottom, on the beautiful new carpet that I love, is a holding area for another project. Its pictures that need to find a place to live and not just sit thrown into a big tub all their lives. That however, is going to come much later.
Next, I am turning my attention to the office couch.
